A very warm welcome to Matheus!

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Matheus Schiavon Kronka to the Sustainable Energy Materials group for one-year research stay, as part of a collaborative project between São Paulo State University (UNESP, Brazil) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM, Germany), funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP/Brazil)!

Dr. Kronka obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP) in São Carlos, Brazil, where he focused on developing nanomaterials for electrochemical applications, with an emphasis on advanced oxidation processes for water remediation. Currently a postdoctoral researcher at UNESP in Araraquara, Brazil, he investigates the design of advanced (photo)electrocatalysts for ammonia synthesis via nitrate reduction using visible light, a promising approach for sustainable fertilizer production.

During his time at TUM, Dr. Kronka will work closely with the Sustainable Energy Materials group to develop innovative and stable catalysts combining metal oxides and single-atom active sites, aiming to improve efficiency and selectivity in the photoelectrochemical conversion of nitrate to ammonia.

Welome to our team, Matheus and we wish you all the best for your stay in Straubing!
