: Marc's talk for "Research in the spotlight"

Marc contributed to the “Research in the Spotlight” lecture series at TUM Campus Straubing with his talk “The Energy Transition is a Materials Challenge,” highlighting why advanced materials and electrocatalysis are central to a sustainable energy future.

In his lecture, Marc discussed how the global shift from fossil fuels to renewable electricity turns energy systems into a materials problem, where scarce elements, catalyst stability and intelligent utilization strategies become critical for scaling technologies such as green hydrogen, power-to-X and sustainable industrial processes. He illustrated how our group’s work on electrochemical materials, catalyst design and operando analytics aims to use less critical raw materials more efficiently while improving performance and lifetime, linking fundamental electrochemistry with real-world energy transition challenges.

During the subsequent reception with refreshments and snacks, discussions continued in a relaxed atmosphere, leading to inspiring conversations and new connections.
